The Clinical Support Services portfolio within the School of Health & Public Safety has a need for an energetic and resourceful individual with great organizational skills to provide clinical instruction in a theory and laboratory setting in the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program for Full Time and Part Time students. The Role
Class Contact:
Facilitate and supervise students' learning in classes, laboratories, simulation, and practicum through effective action-based lessons, activities and assessments
Class Management
Maintain currency and relevance of course material, laboratory manuals and other teaching resources with current developments in his/her/their subject matter.
Provide ongoing support, guidance and feedback to students in relation to their progress, achievement, professional standards and general welfare.
Manage class and laboratory environments to ensure a safe, healthy and positive student learning experience.
Maintain records for the purposes of grading and tracking attendance in all classes.
Prepare laboratory preps and supply lists for Educational Technologists
Evaluate and maintain student progress and retention through assessment of evaluations
Promote professionalism and coach students
Adhere to safety legislation and SAIT Policies and Procedures
Other Duties:
Participate in program, portfolio, School or SAIT meetings
Participate in institutional activities that support students in building their competitiveness, resiliency and citizenship.
Participate in course development, program reviews and quality assurance activities.
Engage, as appropriate, in scholarly activity, applied research and other projects.
Engage, as relevant, in professional and career development activities.
Collaborate with other faculty members and institutional partners to advance teaching methodology and educational technology, and to support student success.
Maintain, develop, and grow effective relationships in relevant industry, business and governmental sectors.
Participate in general administration activities including serving as members on committees and workgroups, onboarding and mentorship of new faculty members, and participating in other institutional functions.
Leverage experience and areas of passion to help shape the future of learning at SAIT.
Contribute to advancing the mission and vision of SAIT as being a global leader in applied education.
Negotiate, arrange and manage suitable partner practicum student placements across Canada
Create new and maintain existing practicum partner relationships
Continue to maintain currency in profession and continue to develop as a faculty member
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Minimum Required
Graduate of an MDRT program
2 years work experience as a certified MDRT
Preferred
Continuing education or professional development in adult education
2 years education, teaching or preceptor experience
Qualifications:
Certified MDRT
Skills Required
Fluent in English reading and vocabulary
Maintain a positive & respectful attitude in a team enviroment
Comfortable speaking to the public and students
Ability to read, interpret and deliver specific curriculum
Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build and maintain partnerships
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Maintain Medical Device Reprocessing Technician certification standards
Previous teaching experience would be an asset
Experience with technology to include learning management systems (Brightspace), Microsoft products, and webinar technology is an asset
