Position Title: Micro Lab Technician

Summary: The role involves performing microbiological testing, completing reports, conducting sanitation and water testing, maintaining lab equipment, managing supplies, ensuring data accuracy, and promoting safety and housekeeping under the supervision of the Quality Control Supervisor.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

• Work under the direction of and report to the Quality supervisor
• Performs all micro testing as per procedures outlined in the Corporate Microbiological Manual.
• Completes Q.C. daily micro reports in a timely manner.
• Performs sanitation swabbing as required.
• Performs water testing as required.
• Trained to understand all Q.C. positions.
• Ensures lab equipment is functioning properly and calibrated.
• Orders all micro lab and Q.C. lab supplies.
• Conducts monthly glass audit
• Data entry into computer, ensures all information is up to date.
• Ensures good housekeeping is maintained in his/her area.
• Actively participate in safety, food safety culture and promote teams engagement.
• All other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Competencies)

• Adheres to all company rules, regulations and policies and all relevant rules, regulations and policies.
• Effective written, oral, mathematical and interpersonal skills.
• Experienced with the safe handling of chemicals in accordance with WHMIS.
• Physically capable of performing all required duties including heavy lifting (up to 50lbs).
• High School graduate or Grade 12 GED.
• Successful completion of a 90-day familiarization period is required.
• Must have proven history of safe work habits.
• Must have proven satisfactory past job performance.
