With over 40 years of experience in Emergency Medical Services, Associated Ambulance is proud to be the largest private EMS operator in Alberta. We deliver Advanced Life Support (ALS), Basic Life Support (BLS) and Inter Facility Transfer Services to 22 rural and 2 metro locations across Alberta.


We are currently seeking expressions of interest for multiple Regional Support Supervisor positions supporting our Front Lines across varying zones. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Regional Support Supervisors will be responsible for the daily resource management of frontline employees, vehicles, and systems to ensure the safe, effective, and professional delivery of EMS services within their assigned regions. Daily travel within the designated regions will be required as part of the position.


Each position hired will be responsible for a specific region/zone:


1) Northwest Zone (NW): Jasper, Hinton, Edson, Evansburg, Mayerthorpe, Whitecourt, Barrhead


2) Northeast Zone (NE): Athabasca, Boyle, Lac La Biche, Vilna, Thorhild, Westlock, Cold Lake, Smoky Lake


3) Edmonton Zone (IFT): Station Location is Acheson, AB


  • These permanent roles are scheduled to begin on February 3, 2025.
  • The NW & NE Zone RSS's will work a short-block 4 week rotation schedule (TBD upon hire) with annual hours of 2190.
  • The IFT RSS schedule will be Mon-Fri with varied shift start times & rotations (days/evenings) with annual hours of 2080.

Job Duties

  • Managing and supervising the daily activities of assigned ACP's, PCP's and EMR's
  • Organizing, delegating and monitoring work processes in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement(s) and Company Policies.
  • Making decisions and resolving operational dispatch and resource (equipment, vehicle and personnel) challenges and problems
  • Lead, motivate and mentor employees through continuous support, empowerment, and accountability
  • Monitor and evaluate operational systems and processes to ensure that safe, high quality and cost-effective service provision is maintained
  • Completion of and submission of required statistics and reports
  • Employee management through effective use of evaluation, coaching and progressive discipline techniques
  • Real-time scheduling to ensure availability of required resources
  • Incident investigations
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment and workplace
  • Develop and maintain effective interagency/interdepartmental relationships and partnerships
  • Project work as assigned


Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted registration with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACoP)
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience as a front line paramedicine practitioner, within a BLS or ALS system
  • Supervisory and/or leadership experience from the front lines will be considered an asset
  • Displays the fundamentals of our core values and "just" culture

  • Demonstrated abilities to use the Microsoft Office™ software platform including Teams
  • Critical thinking capabilities
  • Knowledge of provincial regulations, collective bargaining agreements and company policies to make informed decisions
  • Exhibits the understanding and ability to use knowledge of provincial, regional and local Systems Status Managment and deployment matrix to make resource managment decisions
  • Ability to work collaboratively with minimal supervision
  • Must provide (VSC) Vulnerable Sector Check within last 3 months
