Are you ready to support the next generation of dental professionals? We're looking for an organized, detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Educational Laboratory Technologist! In this role, you'll maintain dental equipment, assist with lab operations, and help create a safe, efficient learning environment for students. Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, set-up, and dismantle instructional equipment and supplies for use by academic staff
Perform daily routine cleaning and organization of labs to maintain a safe and healthy environment
Maintain, assess, and troubleshoot clinical and laboratory dental equipment to manufacturers' standards in compliance with program specifications and report or perform minor/major repairs as required
Provide general operating, maintenance and inventory management support to the dental programs
Order supplies and consumable items using PeopleSoft Financial System and maintain related inventory records and control
Assist with the scheduling of patients for the Denturist and Dental Assisting programs using dental management software program and maintain patient records
Assist academic staff by monitoring students in providing a clean, safe work environment for patients, fellow students and staff in the dental clinic, dental labs and the business office
Orientate and monitor students in the policies and procedures of the dental patient business area (when required)
Receive payment from patients for dental services provided (when required)
Supervise students during lab cleaning duties
Other related duties as required
Skills & Abilities:
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, adapt easily to change, and espouse continuous quality improvement with a strong focus on student success and satisfaction
Knowledge in denturist and dental equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and dental procedural understanding, with a strong willingness to learn and understand the policies, processes and procedures
Proficient computer skills and the use of Microsoft Office, along with effective oral and written communication skills
Excellent working knowledge of laboratory safety and exhibit safe work practices
Be able to lift up to 25 kilograms (35 pounds) as supplies and equipment lifting will be required
Qualifications:
Completion of Grade twelve
Related diploma or dental assisting certificate
Related experience in industrial laboratory work
Licensed with an allied health regulatory body or health related diploma or dental assisting certificate. Preference may be given to a graduate from a recognized Denturist program who is registered with the College of Alberta Denturists
Minimum of two years recent dental industry
Previous post-secondary work experience is considered an asset
Equivalencies may be considered
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: $51,138.62 - $69,092.14 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Educational Laboratory Technologist II).
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
