Reporting to the Manager, Student Life, the Mental Health Coordinator (MH Coordinator) is responsible for leading and implementing initiatives and projects identified in the Mental Health and Well-being Strategy (Strategy) as well as the post-secondary mental health grant. In this role, the successful candidate will also supervise the Mental Health Project Assistant and Outreach and Well-being Leaders (OWLs) casual staff. The responsibilities include awareness, education programming and sharing mental health resources with NAIT students and staff. The MH Coordinator position requires collaborative leadership and well-established project coordination skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the recruitment, training, supervision, and work assignments of the team: Mental Health Project Assistant (salary staff) and OWLs (casual staff)
  • Leads the project coordination, promotion, education, events and activities
  • Leads implementation of the initiatives and projects within the NAIT Mental Health and Well-being strategy and within the Post-secondary Mental Health Grant Agreement
  • Creates the annual schedule of events
  • Creates and develops efficient processes for engagement and participation
  • Supports bi-annual delivery of Wellness survey
  • Coordinates data collection and reporting activities
  • Monitors progress and change structures to improve the effectiveness of resources
  • Supports the planning and maintenance of budgets for student mental health initiatives
  • Supports and participates in projects delivered by NAIT Well-being
  • Actively participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings

  • General knowledge of budget-related processes
  • Knowledge of supervisory methods, techniques and practices
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision
  • Ability to establish productive working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Knowledge of NAIT health and safety guidelines
  • Knowledge of NAIT HR and payroll processes

Qualifications:

  • Related post-secondary diploma.
  • Three to five years' related experience working in a related position in a post-secondary environment (e.g. student services, student mental health, curriculum design).
  • Advanced credential in the field of psychology, education, or public health is preferred.

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration: $61,997.52 - $83,085.08 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Coordinator I).

This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
