The department of Anesthesiolgy at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre (ARHCC) is seeking two full time General Anesthesiologists to join our team. These vacancies have arisen due to planned increases in elective surgical volumes and staffing changes.
ARHCC opened in 2008 and is a regional referral centre and level II trauma centre. Our group includes 15 (FTE) Anesthesiologists. We cover most surgeries that you would expect of a Regional Hospital: General Surgery, a busy Obstetrics service (about 2700 births per year), Gynecology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, ENT, Vascular and Dental. We do not perform Cardiac, Thoracic or Neurosurgery. Anesthesiologists are expected to anesthetise pediatric patients aged 4y and over for elective slates, occasional 2-4yr olds for occasional emergencies and rarely, airway assistance with neonatal intubations.
We run 7-8 OR's for urgent and elective surgery on weekdays; 5 ORs until 1500 hrs, 1 OR until 1700 hrs and emergency surgery after hours. We also run 1-2 out-of-OR position each day for a variety of tasks: Consults, Acute Pain Service, ECT, Cardioversions and Emergency calls. We also provide anesthesia services 2-3 days per week to a secondary OR in the Cancer Agency for Brachytherapy (Prostate and Cervix).
Abbotsford Regional Hospital & Cancer Centre is located in the beautiful Fraser Valley approximately 60 minutes from downtown Vancouver.
The successful candidates will join a departmental on-call schedule. The positions are available to commence in 2025. All qualified candidates including international medical graduates are encouraged to apply. The Local Department Lead - Dr Maurice Dunstan is happy to discuss all aspects of the positions in greater detail, his contact details can be accessed via the recruitment office.
