Job Summary

Addiction Medicine and Substance Use Services

Fraser Heath is seeking to fill the following regional medical lead position:

Regional Lead: Community Services (start date January 6, 2025)

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Addiction Medicine and Substance Use Services (AMSUS) Program Medical Director/Regional Department Head, the responsibilities of the Medical Lead will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide medical practice leadership and direction to the continuum of Fraser Health Addiction Medicine and Substance Use Services (AMSUS) programs within the provincial Road to Recovery initiative.
  • Represent Fraser Health at the Provincial Addiction Recovery and Treatment (Prov-ARTs) committee, alongside the Program Medical Director.
  • Work with operational leaders (MHSU clinical directors, regional directors and Executive Director) to develop and expand services within the Road to Recovery model.
  • Provide medical leadership to regional medical leads of Rapid Access to Addiction Care, Withdrawal Management, Virtual Health Addiction Clinics and Outpatient services to ensure addiction medicine services are provided in alignment with regional evidence base and evidence informed standards of care
  • Liaise with other Addiction Medicine medical leads to ensure appropriate service provision throughout the region
  • Participate in the Regional MHSU committee meetings
  • Ensure the requirements of programs operating within the department are coordinated
  • Maintain regular communication with operational leaders, other physician leads and staff physicians within the department
  • Attend the MHSU regional meetings
  • Monitor and optimize key Addiction Medicine and Substance Use Services performance indicators
  • Oversee a program of quality monitoring
  • Ensure continuous adequate medical staffing in both hospital and community programs (as applicable)
  • Review applications for privileging, where applicable and make recommendations regarding the granting of privileges to physicians
  • Promote health and wellness amongst Members
  • Investigate complaints regarding care provided by Members within the Department at the Facility under the direction of the appropriate Regional Department Head(s)
  • Encourage a healthy, respectful workplace
  • Review with the AMSUS Program Medical Director the human resource requirements of the Regional Department practicing within the facility
  • Contribute to the search and selection of applicants for vacancies in the Regional Department

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must:

  • Be an active medical staff member of the Fraser Health Authority Mental Health and Substance Use Program, and
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

Recruitment will proceed as per the FHA Medical Staff Bylaws.
