Your Opportunity

Nested within Stantec's multiple disciplinary Human Environment team, our Indigenous Engagement practitioners specialize in supporting our clients to work directly with Indigenous Nations, engagement reporting, meeting facilitation, and record keeping.

The successful candidate will collaborate with team members to support engagement activities on impact assessment projects, stand-alone engagement projects, work on multi-disciplinary teams, and support our Human Environment team. The ideal candidate has recent experience conducting engagement with Indigenous Nations in western Canada. We are looking for an individual with excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, has comfort supporting community-based activities, working with team members to prepare clients on best practices for engagement and reporting on project-specific communications. The successful candidate will work with our multidisciplinary teams to successfully deliver on project works while maintaining schedule and budget.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Work with a team to support the development of materials to prepare clients for Indigenous engagement activities

  • Collaborate on the preparation and implementation of engagement plans, including Indigenous participation plans

  • Participate in community engagement programs involving workshops, focus groups and meetings, tasks would focus on coordination, notetaking and record keeping

  • Support records of engagement and engagement reporting

  • Collaborate with team members to identify solution-based advice for issues resolution

  • Work with project team to maintain budgets and work scope

  • Promote a strong health and safety culture and actively participate in Stantec's Health, Safety, Security and Environment Program

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience with Indigenous engagement activities (e.g. supporting open houses, collaborating on engagement materials, supporting engagement reporting)

  • Demonstrated technical writing, presentation, and public speaking skills

  • Willingness to travel for project work

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact across a broad range of audiences/ technical backgrounds including internal and external clients

  • Fluency with the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with MS Project is an asset

Education and Experience

University degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Human Geography, Resource Management, Planning, Environmental Health or related social or environmental sciences discipline, or equivalent experience engaging with Indigenous Nations is considered an asset.

Two to three years of relevant experience in environmental consulting, community and public engagement, social impact or related field, or equivalent experience working with Indigenous Nations.

Must possess a valid driver's license.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • Lower Mainland $65,700/BC Other Areas $62,000 - Lower Mainland $95,300/BC Other Areas $89,900 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
