Seeking Resort Care Attendants for the winter season. The position is broadly split into two main components that are site-specific. Attendants will be required to work in both the Tot Town Daycare (a licensed daycare facility accommodating children aged 18 months to 5 years) and in the Kids Centre (a lesson teaching facility accommodating children 3 to 12 years of age).

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and care for the needs of children at the Tot Town Daycare.
  • Provide supervision and care for the needs of children in the Kids Centre.
  • Observe of mandated licensing requirements including daycare capacity ratios.
  • Build an environment where all staff, children and guardians feel welcome and safe.
  • Act as role model for young children to pattern good behavior.
  • Complete all information and paperwork related to children's safety (e.g. enrollment forms, allergy awareness documents, sign-out by authorized persons)
  • Assist in children's hygiene and toileting routines (e.g. hand washing, diaper changing).
  • Openly communicate with peers and leadership to report and make safe potential dangers.
  • Openly communicate with peers and leadership regarding children's needs (e.g. medication, allergies, specific parental requests).
  • Supervise children who are unable or unwilling to participate in lessons.
  • Clean and maintain facility hygiene standards.
  • Implement and participate in daily program/activities.
  • Remain familiar with all disciplinary, behavioral and emergency policies and procedures.
  • Act as a liaison between guests and leadership to communicate concerns, programming improvements etc.
  • Deliver a memorable alpine experience for internal and external customers.

Position requirements:

Big White and BC Interior Health require Resort Care Attendants provide the following -

  • Recent Criminal Record Check (within 3 months from application date)
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Medical certificate
  • Immunization forms
  • Proof of age
  • Completion of a course, or a combination of courses, of at least 20 hours duration in child development, guidance, health and safety, or nutrition (copy of transcripts must be provided)
  • Non-Canadian residents must have a valid work visa with childcare exclusions removed*

*At the time of making a visa application, applicants need to indicate that they wish to have the childcare exclusion removed, and provide an approved doctor's medical form and a criminal record check.

Physical demands:

Including sitting, standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, lifting or carrying up to 40lbs, reaching.
