The Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) is seeking to recruit two Critical Care Medicine specialists.
The Royal Columbian Hospital is located thirty minutes east of Vancouver, within the Fraser Health Authority. It is the tertiary care referral site for Neurosurgery, Cardiac Surgery, Interventional Cardiology, Interventional Radiology and Trauma. It is likewise home to Obstetrics and Gynaecology, General Surgery, Plastics, Orthopaedics, Urology, CTU Medicine and a host of Internal Medicine subspecialties. RCH is a University of British Columbia teaching hospital and as such, trains residents from a variety of disciplines, as well as training fellows in Critical Care Medicine. Our Intensive Care Unit is currently a full-service thirty bed medical-surgical unit (ICU), supporting all of the specialities listed above. RCH is expanding its size and scope of practice over the next several years, and the Critical Care Medicine Program is anticipated to expand accordingly.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Critical Care Medicine (FRCPC) and have licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. General expertise in care of the critically ill is required. You must be comfortable, proficient and adept in the management of neurologic and cardiogenic critical illness and trauma. Familiarity with the critically ill patient necessitating extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is decidedly considered an asset. Clinical excellence, a high level of interpersonal skills and a history of leadership and teamwork are likewise deemed necessary.
