Description

The Salvation Army is looking for outgoing, personable, and self-motivated individuals who want to make a positive impact in their community. If you love the art of conversation, can engage the public and inspire them to donate to the cause, then you should join our team as a Christmas Kettle Host. Every dollar raised through this program goes back into the community to help feed, clothe, and shelter those in need, while helping others escape violence and addiction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Host event location and engage with public to encourage donations
  • Great and thank Donors/clients courteously
  • Respond to donor / public questions and or make proper referral to the Kettle Coordinator; report any issues or concerns to Coordinator
  • Network with store or property personnel / staff
  • Manage Christmas events and Co-ordinate with staff to ensure program functionality
  • Perform other duties as assigned

HOURS: This is a temporary seasonal position (Nov 12, 2024-Jan 2, 2025). Hours may vary with candidate from 15-30 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, positive working attitude
  • Sensitivity to social issues within our community
  • Highly accountable, may be needed to work different shifts, i.e., afternoons, evenings and Saturdays.
  • Ability to work independently & part of a team
  • Ability to stand for 6 hours, (may increase as per Kettle Campaign requires)
  • Local travel is associated with this position.
  • Required to wear proper Salvation Army Identification

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

  • Fundraising experience
  • Willingness to learn
  • Driver's license an asset

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be needed to:

  • Attend a training session/volunteer
  • Background check consent.
  • Clear vulnerable sector screening.
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and needed Health and Safety training
