We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Relief Full Time - Coordinator, Medical Staff Credentialing to join our team at our Central City offices in Surrey, B.C.

Detailed Overview

Advises applicants and Medical Leaders on the various category definitions and other components of the appointment such as term, site(s), primary and secondary departments, and assigned privileges; Provides guidance to staff regarding the process. Maintains and updates Medical Affairs credentialing policies and procedures; reviews and recommends improvements to the medical staff appointment/review application management systems and processes.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and administers the appointment/review process for Fraser Health (FH) medical staff, in accordance with FH Medical Staff Bylaws and Medical Staff Rules, and the Hospital Act/Regulations.
- Releases, receives and reviews applications for appointment, renewal, change of status, leave, and resignation for practitioners and FH Medical Staff members: assesses completeness of required information and supporting documentation; identifies missing information, inconsistencies, ambiguous and/or inappropriate application requests.
- Verifies the legitimacy of application information and supporting documentation for compliance against established requirements and standards of the FH Medical Staff Bylaws and Medical Staff Rules; liaises with representatives from a variety of licensing bodies and private and government agencies such as the relevant Colleges, Ministry of Health and Medical Services Plan, academic institutions, and other individuals and entities to obtain information, validate applicant claims and supporting documentation, resolve issues, and amend applications.
- Discusses and advises applicants, members, Medical Leaders, and other staff on the medical staff/appointment review process, categories of appointment(s), site, department assignment, and privileges; inquires about the intended role of the applicant as it relates to the criteria in the Bylaws for each category; clarifies whether the applicant will need to be assigned to more than a primary department due to the nature of the intended practice and what privileges would be appropriate.
- Provides education and guidance to designated staff across FH regarding medical staff appointment/review practices, procedures, and structure; prepares and conducts medical staff appointment/review orientations and communicates updates as appropriate on new policies and procedures.
- Prepares and submits applications for appointment/review and mid-term changes to Regional Department leadership, FH Medical Advisory Committee (HAMAC) and the Board based on verifications and assessments.
- Maintains current knowledge of FH Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Hospital Act/Regulations; recommends revisions/updates to ensure compliance; recommends revisions to general aspects of the credentialing process, policies, and forms, as necessary; recommends, and/or implements changes, revisions, and enhancements as appropriate. Prepares for and coordinates external credentialing audits.
- Develops and maintains positive working relationships with FH Medical Leaders, Medical Secretaries, and Medical Staff members and applicant practitoners; responds to internal and external inquiries regarding medical staff appointment/reviews.
- Utilizes complex Medical Staff Credentialing software at an expert level, maintaining a current knowledge of program changes, monitoring data quality, and generating reports. Conducts file/application and database audits for omitted, inconsistent or ambiguous information
- As a primary contact for applicants and Medical Staff members, utilizing a client-focused approach, facilitates a wide variety of technological, logistical and infrastructure requests such as network access, on-line orientation, clinical applications access, parking passes and other requirements. Initiates, coordinates, tracks, monitors and troubleshoots service requests for IMIT applications, and works with internal departments to ensure that arrangements for the service requests are completed in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Diploma in Business Administration or a related field plus three (3) years' recent, related experience in Medical Staff credentialing in a hospital or health authority setting in a Canadian jurisdiction or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
