Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking two dynamic and experienced Instructional Designers and Trainers to join our People Informatics Team on a temporary full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, delivering, and coordinating training for various user groups. This includes creating and delivering training content in different modalities to meet diverse needs. Your efforts will help ensure that our training programs align with the strategic objectives of the People Informatics Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development: Develop, recommend, and coordinate the education and training curriculum, ensuring alignment with the strategic training plan.
  • Needs Assessment: Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify training requirements based on project goals, stakeholder input, and organizational objectives.
  • Training Deliverables: Monitor the successful completion of training deliverables.
  • Material Design: Design and develop comprehensive training materials, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training guides, job aids, and other learning resources in collaboration with Fraser Health subject matter experts.
  • Interactive Learning: Develop and implement simulations, hands-on exercises, and interactive learning modules to facilitate practical, experiential learning.
  • Best Practices: Apply adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to create and deliver engaging and effective training programs tailored to diverse audiences, including end-users, super users, and functional teams.
  • Workshops and Seminars: Lead workshops, seminars, and interactive training sessions to support skill development and knowledge retention.
  • Logistics Management: Coordinate and manage the logistics of training sessions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related discipline with specific courses in adult education and/or online educational design.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of recent related experience in education within a complex health care environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Detailed Overview

Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families:

Reporting to the Lead of Information System and Knowledge Management, the Instructional Designer and Trainer will play a pivotal role in driving successful organizational change by developing and delivering tailored training programs. This role will assess educational needs, design curriculum, and create engaging, learner-centered training materials in formats such as virtual sessions / webinars, simulations, self-paced e-learning, and instructor-led sessions. The Instructional Designer and Trainer will lead training sessions that ensure the smooth adoption of new processes, systems, and technologies. Collaborates with internal teams, subject matter experts, and vendors to align training initiatives with organizational goals, delivering impactful and measurable results.


Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for developing, recommending, and coordinating the education and training curriculum; ensures approved courses are consistent with the strategic training plan of the People Informatics Team.
  2. Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify training requirements based on project goals, stakeholder input, and organizational objectives; monitors successful completion of training deliverables.
  3. Design and develop comprehensive training materials, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training guides, job aids, and other learning resources in collaboration with Fraser Health subject matter experts.
  4. Develop and implement simulations, hands-on exercises, and interactive learning modules to facilitate practical, experiential learning.
  5. Apply adult learning principles and instructional design best practices to create and deliver engaging and effective training programs tailored to diverse audiences including end-users, super users, and functional teams, ensuring the effective transfer of knowledge and a positive learning experience.
  6. Lead workshops, seminars, and interactive training sessions to support skill development and knowledge retention; Coordinate and manage the logistics of training sessions.
  7. Measure learning effectiveness and track learner progress through data analysis, assessments, and key performance metrics to ensure continuous improvement.
  8. Provide post-training support to ensure smooth adoption of new processes and technologies, addressing any challenges or questions that arise.
  9. Offers assessment of the learning situation, advice, and problem-solving for challenges in identifying the most effective mode of educational delivery.
  10. Identifies learning objectives and develops resource estimates to meet project goals; Maintains project logs to monitor the progress of training initiatives.
  11. Answers queries as required. Develops self-support materials such as FAQ instructions to enhance supports.
  12. Collaborate with fellow instructional design and training experts to stay informed on the latest instructional design principles, advancements and trends in curriculum development and delivery.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Education or related discipline with specific courses in adult education and/or online educational design, plus three (3) to five (5) years' recent related experience in education, in a complex health care environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Professional/Technical Capabilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles, curriculum development, instructional design and training delivery, preferably in a change management context.
  • Demonstrated expertise in adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Captivate, Camtasia) and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Ability to facilitate and presentation virtual and in-person trainings as required, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse audiences.
  • Ability to adapt training content and delivery to meet the needs of various learner groups and project requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, write, edit and evaluate educational materials/content.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with others.
  • Evidence of strong problem-solving skills, ability to resolve conflicts, and effective consultation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, manage projects, and meet requested deadlines in a dynamic environment with multiple and shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 products and familiarity with common education technologies, e.g. course authoring tools, virtual training platforms, learning management systems (LMS).
  • Demonstrate ability to facilitate change and participate effectively on collaborative change initiatives.
