Detailed Overview
Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families:
Reporting to the Director of Medical Imaging, the Manager of Medical Imaging is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and management of the assigned medical imaging department and designated operations portfolio. This includes supervising staff, implementing quality assurance measures, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the imaging services. Oversees the operation and management of assigned Medical Imaging Services including General Radiography, CT Scanning, MRI Scanning, Nuclear Medicine, Sonography, Mammography, Fluoroscopy and Interventional Procedures.
The Manager is accountable for medical imaging quality management including departmental policies and procedures, continuous evaluation of services including external assessments and Diagnostic Accreditation Program, process improvement initiatives, radiation safety, quality assurance, and education. The Manager works in collaboration with other departments to streamline patient care pathways and enhance overall healthcare delivery. Key contacts include the FH Senior Leadership Team, FH Directors/Managers, Medical Directors, Professional Practice, Indigenous Health, Finance, Legal, People Services, Decision Support, and Communications leadership.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning, organizing and directing assigned departments, programs, and Medical Imaging staff, and accountable for monitoring services and identifying opportunities for improvement, leading process improvement projects to ensure integrated Medical Imaging services provide high quality, patient centered care.
- Works collaboratively with other Medical Imaging Managers, Medical staff, and clinical operations to develop a shared vision of seamless service and continuum of care for patients and clients across FH.
- Supervises and leads a team of medical imaging professionals and multiple modalities including General Radiography, CT Scanning, MRI Scanning, Nuclear Medicine, Sonography, Mammography, Fluoroscopy and Interventional Procedures.
- Fosters a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting professional development and continuous learning. Develops and implements efficient scheduling and workflow processes to optimize resource utilization.
- Implements and monitors quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. Conducts regular audits and assessments to identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
- Oversees the maintenance and calibration of medical imaging equipment, ensuring all equipment is in optimal working condition. Coordinates with vendors for equipment upgrades, repairs, and new installations.
- Stays current with advancements in medical imaging informatics and technology, implementing relevant updates to enhance department efficiency and data security.
- In collaboration with other Medical Imaging leaders, ensures policies and protocols for Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and Radiology Information System (RIS) are followed to ensure seamless storage, retrieval, and distribution of medical images.
- Develops and manages the department budget, ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining high standards of patient care. Identifies and recommends investments in technology and equipment to enhance department capabilities.
- Provides leadership and direction to designated team members using effective management techniques (e.g. coaching, mentoring, skill and leadership development, decision making, coalition building, performance management and recruitment).
- Utilizes key indicators and decision support to analyze and define changing service delivery needs. Provides reports and recommendations to the Director and Medical Director to support evidence based decision making. Participates in the development of short- and long-range service objectives in support of the strategic directions of the Department.
- Provides strategic management of workflow and human resources ensuring effective and efficient work practices supporting integration of services and departments. Develops and implements efficient scheduling and workflow processes to optimize resource utilization.
- Manages and provides a safe and healthy workplace for clients and staff and ensures that health and safety requirements for operational areas are met. Reports unsafe situations; investigates and takes corrective action and/or notifies appropriate personnel.
Qualifications
