The Occupational Therapist is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents and ignites the warmth of human connection.

As an Occupational Therapist your typical day will impact the following ways:

• Implementing and evaluating occupational therapy treatment programs.

• Providing occupational therapy assessments, consultation, and interventions for residents to maximize physical function and promote independence and safety.

• Determining the appropriate use of recognized occupational therapy assessment tools such as neurobehavioral cognitive exams, ADL/IADL assessments, and related assessments by reviewing resident records, interviewing the resident and gathering relevant information to restore, maintain and enhance occupational health, quality and performance.

• Provides clinical expertise, consultation and leadership in evidence-based occupational therapy practice to team members and residents.

• Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to plan individual and/or group occupational therapy treatment programs by establishing and prioritizing expected outcomes utilizing the self-management model of living, discussing implementation options and determining available resources.

• Assigning components of the resident’s treatment plan to designated team members by instructing, observing and monitoring treatment provided to ensure quality resident care; provides input in the performance evaluations of designated team members.

• Role modeling and demonstrating occupational therapy techniques and practices.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Must haves:

• Graduation from an approved program of Occupational Therapy.

• Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of BC and eligible for membership in the BC Society of Occupational Therapists or Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.

• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check.
