Nurse Clinician, Nursing Ambulatory Clinic, Chronic Pain Services
BC Children's Hospital
Vancouver, BC
The Nurse Clinician role is a unique opportunity to provide long-term, compassionate care. Many of our patients have been dismissed or misunderstood in other healthcare settings, and at our clinic, they're finally validated and listened to. The impact you'll make is profound—not only in terms of improving patients' functions but in enhancing their overall quality of life.
One of the key aspects of this role we're looking for is someone who has worked with complex pain patients, and patients who experience pain crisis. You'll be involved in motivating patients and providing coaching, using these techniques to help patients manage their pain and improve engagement with their care plans. If you have experience with motivational interviewing and coaching, that's a huge plus.
We also value candidates who are passionate, patient, and empathetic—this isn't a quick-fix environment. The work we do here is about building long-term relationships with patients, and it requires the dedication of a diverse, collaborative multidisciplinary team of MDs, RNs, PTs, OTs, Pharmacy, Psychology and Social work.
CPS (Chronic Pain Services) patients are often facing challenges no one else has been able to help with, and the team's dedication to validating and helping children is incredibly rewarding. You'll get to see the impact of your work not just in clinical outcomes, but in patients' lives as they experience real improvements in both their physical health and emotional well-being.
