Job Summary
A Research Assistant is needed to work in the UBC Innovation in Dementia and Aging (IDEA) Lab, responsible for conducting a variety of tasks related to research projects focused on engaging patient partners in research and integrating technology in dementia care.

Organizational Status
The successful candidate reports directly to the Principal Investigator: Dr. Lillian Hung and will lead the research team to work collaboratively with academic researchers at UBC and partner institutions, people with dementia, older people living in care settings, and community partners.

Work Performed
- Carries out simple tests and measurements.
- Assists with routine tasks in data collection, sampling, identification and preparation.
- Maintains research related records and databases, entering data according to established protocols.
- Performs basic literature research, such as, searching for articles on-line or at the library.
- Provides general assistance on field trips and in collecting data
- Performs simple preparation of materials according to specifications.
- Other related duties as required

Consequence of Error/Judgement

The candidate must possess an understanding of conducting literature reviews and drafting reports. Failure to maintain attention to detail and conduct work in this context will jeopardize the quality of the research.


Supervision Received
Works under direct supervision in accordance with detailed oral or written instructions; routine duties are carried out under general supervision.

Supervision Given
None but may explain work sequences to others.

Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation and a minimum one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field education, public health social sciences, health sciences is considered an asset.
• Experience conducting literature reviews.
• Microsoft Office familiarity including Word, Outlook and especially Excel.
• Organized and high attention to detail.
