GENERAL STATEMENT
With minimal supervision by the Chair, the instructional assistant supports the design and delivery of psychology courses, with a priority for labs at the introductory and second-year level (e.g. PSYC 110 and 201); prepares and distributes instructional material; marks objective lab assignments; assists students with their lab work; and assists the program chair.

TYPICAL DUTIES
Under the direction of the instructor, the instructional assistant reinforces student learning by:
• Guiding students in conducting statistical analysis and interpretation of experimental lab results;
• Helping students understand information presented in lab by the instructor;
• Acting as a resource for students during and outside of lab time, including computer labs, especially in preparation of research papers and lab experiments;
• Contributing to the development of curriculum, materials and activities for labs;
• Stays current with lab procedures in the discipline of psychology;
• Orders and maintains lab and departmental supplies and resources; books audio-visual equipment.
• Organizes and maintains lab procedures and materials files;
• Organizes and maintains the psychology information board;
• Marks and records grades for objective lab assignments and multiple-choice exams; assists in proctoring exams;
• As time permits, assists the program chair in the development and maintenance of departmental procedures, record-keeping, data collection and entry, promotional events and recruitment, make-up exams, Psychology Club activities, and departmental social events.

Performs other related duties similar in scope and complexity.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in psychology (including two courses in research methods and statistics) with two year's related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to work effectively with others, and be able to organize and analyze statistical data. Basic skills in keyboarding, computer, and internet, word-processing, spreadsheets, and industry-standard statistical packages.
