Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Leads a team of technical and clinical support staff in the provincially integrated delivery of diagnostic operations. Inspires and leads laboratory and imaging staff across the organization to embrace and adopt integrated, patient-centred care pathways and service delivery models. Provides service-delivery focused operational leadership to laboratory and imaging operational services, partnering closely with the senior leadership of the diagnostic operations (Discipline team) and executive (Provincial Medical Specialty Leads of Laboratory Medicine and Imaging & Executive Directors - Provincial Lab Operations & Imaging Operations) to support the operation of a leading edge, efficient, and high-quality service in line with the values of the organization.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Lab Operations (and dotted line reporting to Executive Director DI Operations), the Diagnostic Services Director is an integral member of the Shared Health Diagnostic Services leadership team, providing operational leadership and management for the diagnostic services in the Northern and Churchill Regions.
The Diagnostic Services Director participates in planning, budgeting, policy settings and quality improvement activities to ensure Shared Health is providing a quality service that is efficient, effective and accessible. The Diagnostic Services Director collaborates with the provincial Shared Health leadership team, the hospitals, and Regional Health Authority administration to achieve these goals.
The Diagnostic Services Director is required to participate in the activities of Administrator-on-Call (AoC) roster. In this capacity of AoC, you are assigned 1 week of AoC in rotation with other leadership (24/7 for the week Monday 8 a.m. to the following Monday 8 a.m.). For compensation for each week, you are given an additional Discretionary Leave day. Typically, AoC is scheduled as 1 week in every 3 months.
The successful candidate will ideally be located in Thompson, Flin Flon or The Pas; however, other locations within the province would be considered. For anyone not living in the North, travel will be expected to be 50% of daily work hours. The Diagnostic Services Director will be required to travel between their home base office and the northern sites, including Churchill to be able to attend to site activities occurring to provide an in-person presence.
