Location: Thompson, MB
Status: Regular Part Time (18.75 hours per week)
Schedule: Monday to Friday

Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together

The Nurse Consultant is responsible for assessing and providing screening tests to clients and recommending early intervention when needed. As well, providing case management for early intervention and pro-active return to work planning to reduce the impact of injury and disability.

Additional duties would include the emergent medical management of our client's employees (in an effort to provide prompt onsite management of less emergent injuries and issues).


Here's how

  • Performs health assessments
  • Performs urine drug screening and breath alcohol testing
  • Assists in the administration of practical (on the job) hearing and/or vision testing
  • Provides screening tests for Pulmonary Function, Audiometric Testing, Visual Acuity, CXR, EKG and bloodwork.
  • Provides medical surveillance assessments in accordance with legislative programs
  • May act as relief coverage for nurse onsite
  • Case management duties as required
  • Travel health assessments and immunizations as required

Qualifications

What you bring

  • Registration in good standing with the applicable regulating body ie: College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba or College of Licensed Practical Nurse of Manitoba
  • Minimum of 3 years of primary care nursing experience (or equivalent combination of experience and specialized education)
  • Immunization certification (or willing to obtain certification)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Audiometric certification (or willing to obtain certification through TELUS Health)
  • Spirometry certification (or willing to obtain certification through TELUS Health)
  • DOT Breath Alcohol technician certification (or willing to obtain through TELUS Health)
  • DOT Urine Specimen Collector certification (or willing to obtain through TELUS Health)
  • Knowledge of pre-employment and medical surveillance legislation (Workers' Compensation, Human Rights, and Occupational Health & Safety) is an asset (or willing to learn)
