Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Operates all x-ray equipment in the Diagnostic Imaging Department to produce diagnostic radiographs and CT head scans as required. Instructs and supervises newly hired General Duty Radiology Technologists during their orientation. Functions as an independent self-directed professional in the delivery of direct patient care relating to all radiological procedures. Works within the framework of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Responsible for recording EKG's on all evening shifts as well as both days and evening shifts on weekends and stats. Establishes and is committed to interdisciplinary consultative and collaborative relationships with other members of the Health Care Team to ensure safe patient focused care. Provides cooperation with technologists of the Diagnostic Imaging Department in the carrying out of all functions.

Experience

  • Two (2) years experience desirable, preferably in a health care setting.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Graduate of a recognized accredited School of Medical Radiation Technology.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Imaging Technology Program, eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) and registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) within three months of hire.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be able to work cooperatively, courteously and communicate tactfully with clients and all health centre personnel.
  • Must be capable of functioning under stressful situations.
  • In the absence of medical assistance must be able to initiate measures for resuscitation.
  • Assumes responsibility for ongoing education and participates in professional activities for personal and professional growth.
