Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Manager and the Clinical Charge Technologist, technologist is responsible for:

  • Performs safe, effective, high-quality MRI procedures in collaboration with radiologists/physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Participates in clinical instruction, guidance and evaluation of students.

Experience

  • Recent MRI experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in IV starts on clients preferred.
  • Must have RIS/PACS experience and demonstrate proficiency with computers, software programs and applications such as word processing, spreadsheets and databases.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Graduation from a recognized and accredited school of Medical Imaging Technology with a minimum two years of training.
  • Must have successfully completed an MRI course recognized by the CAMRT.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Imaging Technology Program, eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) and registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) within three months of hire.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.

Physical Requirements

  • Close proximity to very strong magnetic fields, changing magnetic fields and radiofrequency waves. Electronic implants, prostheses, and ferromagnetic implants may not be safe with this working environment.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand or move about for extended periods of time.
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort required.
  • Ability to lift and position clients who may be large, heavy and/or in a state of unconsciousness.
  • Occasionally required to work extended hours.
  • Potential exposure to infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, equipment noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress.
  • At times, may be required to push or pull heavy equipment.
  • Bends, reaches, lifts and carries materials and equipment for short distances.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
