Reporting to the Manager of Support Services, the Housekeeping Assistant is responsible for all housekeeping activities related to providing a clean, healthful and sanitary condition conducive to the welfare and care of the residents and tenants of Donwood.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Grade 12 education, Manitoba standards, required;
  2. Preference for prior housekeeping experience in the healthcare or hospitality services;
  3. Excellent command of the English language (both oral and written); 2nd language an asset;
  4. General skills and abilities relevant to duties of the position;
  5. Ability to follow directions promptly and efficiently;
  6. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with team members;
  7. Ability to relate well to the elderly.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

  1. Provides a clean environment in accordance with department's and Donwood Manor's philosophy, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures;
  2. Demonstrates diligence and thoroughness with minimal direct supervision;
  3. Performs duties related to assigned housekeeping position;
  4. Responsible for reading policy and procedures, disaster manual, WHMIS manual and understanding specific responsibilities;
  5. Adheres to principles of safety and sanitation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Position involves physical activities including, but not limited to walking, bending, stretching, repetitive actions, and lifting/carrying/moving moderately heavily weighted objects.
  2. May be exposed to moisture, odour, noise, chemicals, vibration, dust and grime; usual safety procedures and personal protective equipment must be used to avoid the risk of workplace injuries.
