Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Supply and Distribution is responsible for the receiving and distribution of over $50 million of annual flow through and provides safekeeping of on hand inventory of $2 million, plus capital project receipts that average $5 million per year. Support is also provided to rural hospitals, home care patients (dialysis & TPN), paraplegics and the University of Manitoba, with sales in excess of $2 million annually.
The Supply Chain Operations Manager provides supply management services for 80 patient care units throughout the Centre, by managing approximately $1 million of unofficial inventory held on patient care areas. The Supply & Distribution staff order medical/surgical supplies on a daily and weekly basis. Supplies are inventoried, ordered, received, and continually rotated. Product recalls and substitutions are managed in a timely fashion and communicated to the units.
The Supply Chain Operations Manager oversees the Supervisor, Mailroom & Internal Distribution who is ultimately responsible for the day to day operations of the Mailroom and the internal/external delivery of mail, specimens, pharmaceuticals and patient charts. They ensure a high quality service is provided to the end users within HSC.
The services provided are essential in support of patient care activities. Understanding customer needs is critical in procurement of essential supplies for patient care and scheduling effective delivery time frames. Balancing of staff to ensure service to all user centres during peak vacation and long term sick periods are a normal job activity.
The broad geographic area and dispersed working location of the department adds an element of complexity.
Under the general direction of the Director, Shared Health Supply & Distribution Services, the incumbent is responsible for establishing effective lines of communication with the clinical and non-clinical End Users on the wards and units to facilitate their particular Supply Chain needs.
In conjunction with Logistics Services (LS), promotes and monitors standardization of product lines.
The incumbent is responsible for the day to day operations of the Mailroom and the internal delivery and distribution of mail, specimens, pharmaceuticals and patient charts.
The incumbent is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing accurate records on key performance and workload indicators relative to the measurement of service provided, utilization and productivity.
The incumbent is responsible for providing staffing and information tracking and analysis to support patient care areas.
The incumbent is responsible for planning and implementing service changes and enhancements within patient care supply management that will be in alignment with other S&DS departments.
The incumbent is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the computerized technology and analysis to support a daily just in time inventory management chain.
Upon the commencement of the job must be able to obtain certificate on hazardous waste handling and transport.
