Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

The incumbent, specializing in ocular motility, assists the Ophthalmologist with the diagnosis and treatment of visual system dysfunctions involving eye alignment, eye movement, binocularity and vision.

Experience

  • Previous related experience preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete high school education, Manitoba Standards. Successful completion of a 24-month Canadian Orthoptic Council approved training program (including academic and clinical instruction) required. (Note: Canadian Orthoptic Council requires a pre-requisite of a university degree with emphasis on the sciences prior to the 24-month training program). Must meet ongoing continuing education requirements of the Canadian Orthoptic Council.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Certificate from a Canadian Orthoptic Council approved 24-month training program required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, required.
  • Knowledge of Maxgold software preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity.

Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
