Horizon Health Network (Horizon) is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and strategic leader to join our team as the Clinical Executive Director for the Cancer and Renal Care Program.

Reporting to the Vice-President, Clinical Operations and working in collaboration with their Medical Executive Director dyad partner, the successful incumbent will provide strategic and operational leadership for all cancer and renal care services, including inpatient and outpatient care, across Horizon's 12 hospitals.

The ideal candidate will be an agile leader and strong communicator who possesses extensive experience in healthcare management and a proven track record of enhancing clinical service delivery through effective and collaborative leaderships in complex healthcare environments.

Who you are

You are an accomplished healthcare leader with over eight years of experience in healthcare administration who is passionate about building strong team that are enabled to drive improvement in the quality, access, safety, efficiency, and delivery of cancer and renal care services for our patients. You are skilled in building and delivering complex healthcare programs and managing large and diverse interdisciplinary clinical teams. You achieve this by fostering strong collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders through open communication and a genuine desire to foster meaningful engagement. You can be depended on to foster a culture of accountability that is focussed on delivering strong results, supported by strong budgeting and financial management capabilities, an expert understanding of project and change management, and a thorough understanding of relevant healthcare regulations and standards to ensure compliance and best practices across all areas within your Program.

  • Education Required: Master's degree in business or healthcare management, or equivalent training and experience within a clinical profession.
  • Years of Experience Required: 8-10 years of progressive administrative and management experience in the healthcare sector.
  • Process improvement (LEAN Six Sigma Black Belt) and project management training.
  • Written and spoken competence in English is required at an advanced level. Proficiency in French is a valuable asset.

What you will do

As the Clinical Executive Director for the Cancer and Renal Care Program at Horizon, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare delivery in New Brunswick. Your responsibilities will include:

Strategic Planning and Development:

  • Developing a comprehensive strategic plan and annual operational plan for your Program that aligns with Horizon Health Network's strategic objectives and addresses community needs.
  • Creating and implementing quality and efficiency improvement plans for your Program to ensure alignment with best practices and standards of care.
  • Establishing and delivering upon objectives and key performance indicators (KPI) that align with the strategic plan and reflect the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Horizon Health Network.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborating effectively with regional partners and community stakeholders to secure necessary support to ensure successful delivery of the Programs mandate, goals, and objectives.
  • Maintaining effective and consistent communication with your dyad partner, other Horizon Program leaders and all members of your team to foster a collaborative environment and high level of engagement within your Program and across Horizon.

Program Delivery and Evaluation:

  • Monitoring and reporting on monthly budget variances, developing strategic plans to address financial challenges as they arise.
  • Ensuring the highest quality of care by developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive quality improvement process.
  • Driving accountability across the Program for delivery on organizational priorities.
  • Fostering a positive work environment that encourages open communication, professional development, and a team-oriented approach to patient care.
  • Maintaining a focus on continued education and building external networks focussed on acquiring and translating knowledge on applicable best practices.

Patient and Family Engagement:

  • Implementing robust mechanisms for promptly addressing patient and family feedback, concerns, and inquiries, ensuring a patient-centered approach in all aspects of care.
  • Measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of clinical service delivery within the Program and patient outcomes to identify areas for improvement.

Leadership and Reporting:

  • Leading the delivery of your Program in alignment with the principles of organizational design, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement in the delivery of clinical services within the Program, focussed on improving patient outcomes and setting a standard for clinical excellence.
  • Preparing and presenting comprehensive reports for various administrative and board committees as requested, providing insights and recommendations for Program enhancements.
