Who you are

You have 8 or more years of progressive, diverse leadership experience in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. In addition a minimum of three year's experience working in healthcare with demonstrated experience working in patient and family centred care. You have a proficiency level in Microsoft Office applications.

The Regional Director of Patient Engagement/Experience is a regional leadership role that reports directly to the Program Director of Quality, Patient Safety and Engagement. This position is responsible and accountable for leading a team in the strategic planning, delivery, and evaluation of the department's functions to advance person centred care practices and improve patient experience. The following regional departments, which have the mandate to improve and support patient/family experience, report to the Regional Director:

  • Patient Engagement
  • Patient Relations
  • Designated Support Person (DSP) Liaison

The Regional Director of Patient Engagement/Experience provides direct support and expert counsel to Horizon leadership on all aspects of patient/family engagement and experience practices including feedback/concerns management, and person centred care. This position establishes and maintains positive relationships with key local, provincial, and national representatives and health care stakeholders.

The Regional Director provides leadership for the department utilizing best practice and evidence in fiscal, human, and technical resource management as well as the development of strategic alliances to enhance and build upon the partnerships to meet department and organizational objectives.

Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Management, Business Administration, Leadership, or related field. LEAN Six Sigma certification would be an asset.

Written and spoken competence in English is required at an advanced level.

What you will do

The Regional Director is responsible for leading a team in:

  • Collaborating with other departments and portfolios that will guide the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of patient engagement and Person Centred Care.
  • Identifying and leading engagement and Person Centred Care strategies and initiatives that are expected to have significant impact on patient/family experience, patient safety, health outcomes, clinical practice, health workforce policy, healthcare policy and strategic priorities.
  • Identifying, developing, and disseminating evidence-based tools, resources, and practices to guide and support PFC Person Centred Care and patient/family engagement activities.
  • Collaborating in the development of education strategies and programs regarding Person Centred Care and patient/family engagement.
  • Assisting patients/families in the feedback/concern resolution process and supporting Horizon leaders and staff with tools, techniques, and expertise to address and resolve concerns.
  • Providing measured outcomes related to all facets of patient/family engagement and patient/family experience initiatives including patient feedback/concern management.
  • Supporting the development and marketing of education sessions and materials developed by Patient Engagement and Patient Experience.
  • Providing oversight of strategies that support various advisory councils and committees that utilize patient experience advisors
