About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, and under the direction of the Provincial Program Coordinator and Medical Director of the INSPIRED COPD Outreach Program, the Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory (primarily COPD) education to patients, families, caregivers and other health care professionals. The Respiratory Therapist applies their knowledge, skills and judgment in the provision of diagnostic, assessment and therapeutic modalities to assist in the management of respiratory disorders in collaboration with health care professionals and community providers.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Respiratory Therapy and currently licensed with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists required
  • Successful completion of the Canadian Board of Respiratory Care Exams required
  • Successful completion of hospital-based certification and recertification procedures are mandatory for continued employment
  • Current certification in BCLS is required
  • Proof of completion of an approved COPD Educators program (CRE) or equivalent preferred; if not completed, after hiring, completion is required as soon as feasible (funding available)
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in Respiratory Therapy is required
  • Clinical experience in the relevant practice area preferred (ie. Respiratory clinic, community-based care, chronic disease management, patient educator)
  • Ability to prioritize, problem solve and work under patient caseload time limitations required
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills; must be an effective team player
  • Competencies in other languages would be an asset
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, videoconferencing)
  • Experience with virtual care an asset; must be willing to integrate virtual care into practice
  • Able to work flexibly from an office, home or community setting to provide both in-person and virtual care
  • Willing to travel within program catchment area with occasional travel beyond catchment, for training or meeting purposes

  • Long Assignment, Part-time position; 37.5 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits

$32.43 - $40.66 Hourly
