About the Opportunity

The Education Liaison Coordinator reports to the health services manager or designate and works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide opportunities for clients within the East Coast Forensic Hospital (ECFH) to explore and acquire education and employment opportunities that meet their needs, goals and abilities. Depending on the needs of the individual, this may include GED preparation, facilitating GED testing, assisting with NSCC curriculum, resume writing and addressing literacy and numeracy challenges. The educational programming may occur in a group context and on an individual learning basis. Collaboration with community education providers is also an important responsibility of this position.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized university plus one year's experience in a similar role
  • Previous experience in areas such as facilitation, educational planning and delivery, and adult teaching
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Knowledge of adult education and community service providers would be considered an asset
  • Experience working with and an understanding of clients who have a diagnosis of mental health and addictions concerns, marginalized populations, and transition planning would be an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with clients, educate them, and help them navigate difficult conversations.
  • Effective communication with coworkers, fostering collaboration and a supportive work environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously, making decisions and taking initiative when necessary.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, demonstrating teamwork in a supportive environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, especially in complex and potentially high-risk situations.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Permanent, Full-Time / 75 Hours Bi-Weekly

Compensation and Benefits

$32.59 - $37.90 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
