About the Opportunity

Community Mental Health and Addictions (CMHA) is looking for an experienced Health Care Social Worker to join our interdisciplinary team. Reporting to the Health Service Manager, this Health Care Social Worker will work with individuals who have a wide range of mental illnesses providing clinical services. The incumbent will work collaboratively with other members of the team while providing assessment, provisional diagnosis, consultation and psychotherapy to clients and education and support to their families. The ability to conduct both individual and group psychotherapy is required. The successful candidate will be required to participate in quality improvement initiatives as well as participate in peer supervision processes for ongoing clinical development and growth.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Master's degree in Social Work from a recognized university
  • Current registration with the NSCSW
  • 2 years related clinical experience required
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)
  • Ability to reach a joint formulation with the client and family
  • Demonstrated experience integrating various psychotherapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavior therapy, solution focused therapy, and/or motivational interviewing in both individual and group work
  • Advanced psychotherapy skills; including in brief therapies
  • Demonstrated experience providing group treatment
  • Ability to complete mental health assessments using DSM formulations.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Awareness of local community resources and agencies would be considered an asset
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to demonstrate effective time management and disciplined self-organization
  • Demonstrated comfort and skills working collaboratively with community partners
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent Part Time; 50% FTE; 37.5 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits

$39.39 - $51.78 Hourly

Developmental (less than 2yrs experience) $35.13 - $44.35
