About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Zone Manager, the Community Health Board Coordinator provides support to the community health boards to achieve the mandate of Community Health Boards as outlined in the Health Authorities Act and regulations. The Community Health Board Coordinator is a contributing member of the Public Engagement and Community Health Boards Support team and supports the Community Health Boards in facilitating a collaborative community health planning cycle, by using a population health approach and applying the principles of community development and health promotion. The Community Health Board Coordinator facilitates organizational development; and assists with Board recruitment, volunteer support, training, and other functions that contribute to the successful ongoing operations of Community Health Boards. The key responsibility of the Community Health Board Coordinator is, with the direction of the Zone Manager and with support of the Zone Administrative Assistant, to support the Community Health Boards via the tasks and guidelines outlined in the provincial CHB Operations Manual.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelors degree in Health education/ promotion, public health, community development, adult education, or a combination of relevant education and work experience in community health or community development
  • 2 years of related experience required
  • Foundations of Public Participation Certificate (International Association for Public Participation) is considered an asset
  • Cultural competency and cultural safety training considered an asset
  • Experience working with community-based organizations, groups or projects.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated application of the principles of health promotion, the prevention continuum and population health assessment.
  • Knowledge and experience with program planning and evaluation methods (including logic models).
  • Experience in community health planning, community development and community or public engagement.
  • Experience in volunteer board development, working with diverse groups and teams in a community setting.
  • Demonstrated skills in report writing, facilitation and knowledge of the principles of adult education.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.
  • Ability to think and act independently and strategically.
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a larger team.
  • Ability to organize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits

$34.79 - $42.06 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
