The Department of Medicine is required to provide timely and relevant information regarding clinical service, academic and administrative deliverables to the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness, Dalhousie University, and Nova Scotia Health. The Data Analyst is a member of the Data Team within the Department of Medicine portfolio. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the Analyst ensures accurate and timely data extraction, data management, analytics, interpretation, and tailored reporting of clinical and administrative data to support decision-making.
Reporting to the Data Manager, the Data Analyst uses their data analysis knowledge and skills primarily to prepare and distribute recurring reports (quarterly clinical volume and wait time reports, billing reposts, and date integrity audits) and works autonomously. They use existing SQL queries, stored procedures, Business Objects reports, Power BI report, SSIS Packages and Excel spreadsheets, developed and maintained by the Data Manager to integrate information from various systems to support data-driven decisions and ensure data integrity. The Data Analyst must be detail oriented and well organized to ensure all required data across the divisions has been received and properly coded before reports are produced. They must also have excellent communication skills in order to present complex data to a wide range of stakeholders. In addition, the Data Analyst will develop and maintain billing target data for divisions (based on targets set by leadership) and prepare audit reports of individual physician and divisional billing targets.
