About the Opportunity


Working closely with Epidemiologist reporting to the Director, the Junior Epidemiologist supports the development of high-quality surveillance systems for IPAC by providing statistical and epidemiological analysis of data to support research, decision making, planning and policy development and administration. The Junior Epidemiologist assists in the investigation of outbreaks/clusters, uses epidemiologic tools to evaluate interventions and quality improvement initiatives, and contributes to translation of data into institutional best practice and policy and the conduct of applied epidemiological research. This work is used to inform all aspects of a comprehensive and provincially integrated Infection Control Program to achieve the best outcomes in health care program and service delivery.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Master's degree in Epidemiology (e.g., MSc, MPH) required
  • 3 years related experience, preferably in a healthcare setting required
  • Eligible for registration with relevant health discipline/college or association, where applicable
  • Thorough understanding of healthcare-associated infections and epidemiological principles
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated skills in research methodologies and statistical analysis
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Experience managing their time to address competing priorities and tight timelines
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)
  • Knowledge of statistical and analytical software such as SPSS, R, SAS, Stata, Epi Info; proficiency in general word processing (Word) and the development and maintenance of spreadsheets (Excel); and familiarity with presentation software
  • Experience with tools such as REDCap, GIS mapping and social network analysis is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of hospital epidemiology
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent, Full-Time position, 75 hrs bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits

$37.61 - $47.01 Hourly
