The Manager works with the Operations Director and the DI Medical Department Head for the Zone, to facilitate the daily administrative and clinical operations of the areas of responsibility and to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe and efficient Diagnostic Imaging services. The Manager works in collaboration with other managers and staff to develop and implement policies and procedures which are congruent with the Program and overall corporate plan of Nova Scotia Health.
The Manager is accountable for the efficient and effective operation of assigned areas of responsibility, including zonal MRI, Cyclotron, and Radiopharmacy services. MRI services are provided 7 days/week either by on-site technologists or on-call service, are multi-site (VG, HI, BLCOC and DGH) and multi-professional including technologists, technical assistants, and imaging attendants. The Central zone MRI service is a provincial resource and services the inpatient, outpatient, and emergency needs. The manager is responsible for the coordination of the clinical MRI program for Central Zone.
The Cyclotron regularly operates 5 days a week and must adhere to multiple Health Canada License standards around radiation/nuclear safety and good manufacturing practices. The manager works in collaboration with provincial DI managers and directors on leadership issues and processes related to the Provincial Radiopharmacy.
The Manager works in a co-leadership relationship with the designated Service Chief / Chief Radiologist for assigned areas / facilities.
