Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
Casual teaching position in the undergraduate Dental Hygiene programs as assigned by the Director. DEHY 2805 Periodontics - Winter 2026.This course presents the basic clinical, histologic and radiographic parameters needed for the assessment of normal and diseased periodontal structures. Likewise, this course also covers the microbiologic and histopathologic changes associated with the initiation of gingivitis and its progression to the various stages/grades of periodontitis. Finally, the course deals with the cellular interpretation of the clinical response of the periodontium to the initial phase of treatment. Course material will be presented through in-person lectures.

This appointment will run January 2, 2026 - April 17, 2026.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Must possess a current practicing license as a registered dental hygienist in Nova Scotia. Must possess current CPR (BLS) certification. Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice experience as a Registered Dental Hygienist. Must possess a Bachelor degree. Must have completed coursework or certificate in teaching methodology.

Qualified applicants with previous experience teaching in the Dalhousie University School of Dental Hygiene will be given preference. Previous experience in the didactic teaching of Periodontics is required. Hiring will be done in accordance with precedence as per the CUPE collective agreement.
