Job Summary & Key Responsibilities | NURS 5736.03: Pharmacotherapeutics for RN Prescribing - Winter 2025 This course will develop learners' understanding of how medications work across the lifespan and the factors that influence medication selection taking into account pharmacotherapeutics, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics as well as broader considerations such as patient preference, ethics, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Learners will develop a comprehensive understanding of the legal basis for prescribing as well as techniques to monitor, record and modify medications and or refer patients as appropriate. FORMAT: Seminar CREDIT HOURS: 3 This appointment runs from January 1 - April 30, 2025, and the part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Graduate Studies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Development of teaching and learning activities related to course-specific topics • Teach course content • Assessment and evaluation of student learning • Utilization of One45 for review of student clinical learning rotations • Use of Brightspace for course delivery • Responding to student queries about coursework • Attending initial instruction with Instructional Learning Online services re: Brightspace • Participation in course discussions within the program • Develop and administer examinations • Submission of grades • Follow up with students as necessary |
Qualifications/Requirements of Position | Candidates must hold a graduate degree in Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) and be licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in Nova Scotia. A strong clinical background in pharmacotherapeutics along with prior teaching experience would be an asset. PhD preferred. |
