About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Critical Care Research Director and Manager of the Dalhousie Critical Care Department, the Research Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of research projects conducted within the Department of Critical Care. This coordination includes the administration of the study/clinical trials, facilitating participant involvement in study procedures and activities, and the management of documents and data collected throughout the study period. They oversee the daily operation of clinical or non-clinical research within the Department of Critical Care. This includes acting as a resource and support for staff and learners (i.e., medical students, residents, and fellows) involved in research, in order to facilitate consistency within the research program.

The Research Coordinator is responsible to provide clinical leadership, guidance, and support to determine the overall direction of research activities and participant involvement in respect to the study under the direction of the Primary Investigator (PI).

The Research Coordinator accepts responsibility for maintaining and continually enhancing competencies through ongoing professional development including participation in education programs, research, continuous quality activities and adhering to the guidelines of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) as described by the International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) and by the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans - TCPS 2 (2022). They practice according to the Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses, the Nova Scotia College of Nursing Standards of Nursing Practice, specialty standards as applicable and the policies and procedures of Nova Scotia Health. They are responsible and accountable for their nursing practice and conduct as defined by the Nova Scotia College of Nursing and for ensuring that their registration is current and valid.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Degree or diploma in Nursing required
  • Current registration with NSCN required
  • Minimum of two years' experience in Nursing required
  • Current BLS-C required
  • CCRP (Certified Clinical Research Professional) or CCRA (Certified Clinical Research Associate) an asset
  • Previous experience in clinical research an asset
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint), email and internet
  • Demonstrated competencies in computer skills, including databases.
  • Demonstrated clinical and assessment skills related to the scope required for this patient population (i.e. CPR, physical, mental and emotional assessment, phlebotomy , etc.)
  • Effective interpersonal, communication and teaching skills
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
  • Effective research and analytical thinking skills
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution and rapport-building skills
  • Ability to work well independently as well as within a multi disciplinary team environment
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • This is full-time, permanent assignment (75 hours bi-weekly)
  • This role requires you to be onsite and is based in Halifax, NS
  • Position starting January 2025 (subject to change)

Compensation and Benefits

  • $40.16 - $50.19 Hourly
  • $78,295 - $97,868 Annually
