One Person-One Record (OPOR) is a vision and strategy for integrating patient information across Nova Scotia to enhance health system governance, standardize practices, and improve patient safety, clinical outcomes, and care quality. This collaborative initiative involves IWK Health Centre, Nova Scotia Health, and the Government of Nova Scotia, working in partnership with patients, families, and communities to achieve a unified approach to health care.
Success in OPOR depends on a consistent philosophy and standards across all zones, with close collaboration required among zone leaders, the IWK, and other organizations. OPOR leaders focus on building partnerships both within and outside the organization to strengthen relationships, solve complex problems, and advocate for shared goals. The initiative emphasizes the importance of patient and family involvement in developing programs and services, supporting diversity and social inclusion through cultural competence.
The Senior Director, Clinical OPOR, reporting to the Chief Nurse Executive and VP of Clinical Performance & Professional Practice, leads and advises on Nova Scotia's One Person One Record (OPOR) strategy. This role oversees a leadership team supporting clinical transformation in collaboration with administrative and IT teams. Responsible for the clinical development, delivery, and enhancement of OPOR, the Senior Director drives change readiness strategies to ensure OPOR's long-term viability.
Accountable for strategic and operational alignment with legislation and OPOR's mission, the Senior Director emphasizes continuous improvement, advancing excellence in OPOR delivery, and ensuring compliance with standards and accreditation. Additionally, this role fosters a learning and research environment aligned with Nova Scotia Health's present and future direction.
