About the Opportunity

The IM/IT Sr. Systems Analyst (SA), reports to an IM/IT Manager, and is responsible for the evaluation, design, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of information management and technology solutions, projects and services across NSH, IWK and its many external clients. The IM/IT Sr. SA collaborates with key clinical and business stakeholders throughout the province as the organization, in partnership with the province's Internal Services Department and the Department of Health and Wellness, moves towards the rationalization of disparate systems and the OPOR strategy.

The IM/IT Sr. SA will be committed to a high standard of performance and will provide support across the organization to leverage IT applications aligned with NSH's and its client's strategic mission, vision and goals. The IM/IT Sr. SA performs a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: evaluation of requests for change, data retrieval and optimization opportunities; troubleshooting and assisting with the resolution of application errors and other system issues; development of materials and the communication of system changes to end users; and, building and maintaining all system configuration items in line with best practice and appropriate stakeholder approvals. Additionally, this position ensures that all activities within their responsible area are supported by NSH IM/IT business plan, established policies/procedures, and in line with service level agreements between NSH, IWK and the Department of Health and Wellness.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Degree or diploma in an Information Technology, Business Analysis or Health Related discipline. Consideration may be given to those with equivalent training and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Technology, Systems Analysis or Health Related field.
  • 2+ years' experience in application programming, systems analysis, business analysis or systems support.
  • Experience and/or training with healthcare information systems and terminology an asset.
  • Knowledge and skills in the areas of clinical communications, including, but not limited to, telephony solutions, nurse call systems, RTLS, ACD and Call Centre Solutions as well as knowledge of paging technology an asset.

About You Continued

  • Knowledge and experience in a call centre environment with scripting and hospital code response considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with IT infrastructure including servers, networking, firewalls, access control and Windows operating systems an asset.
  • Certification in IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Project Management (PMP) and/or organizational change management an asset.
  • Ability to relay or explain complex issues or difficult scenarios to clinical and business staff.
  • Working knowledge of basic systems principles, theories and concepts within healthcare.
  • Strong knowledge of health care and technology industry best practice relating to software applications.
  • Ability to solve a range of complex problems; identify innovative solutions; and, use clinical best practice knowledge of internal and/or external business issues to improve service.
  • Experience creating summary documentation based on evaluation and analysis.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to solve high risk, complex issues.
  • Experience in transformational or process analysis to support change management principles.
  • Ability to clearly communicates NSH vision, mission and values.
  • Experience in working with patient care leaders.
  • Motivated self-starter

Hours

  • Permanent, Full-time Position; 75 Hours Bi-weekly
  • This position is required to provide after hours on-call support on a rotating schedule
  • Travel to various sites throughout Nova Scotia may be required

Compensation and Benefits

$37.61 - $47.01 Hourly
