About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Mental Health & Addictions, or designate, the Occupational Therapist, Mental Health & Addictions, functions as a member of the Mental Health & Addictions Program and the multi-disciplinary team, participating in the planning, development, provision and evaluation of Mental Health & Addictions.

The Occupational Therapist exhibits sound professional judgment and initiative while working within the framework and objectives of the Mental Health & Addictions and the Mission, Vision and Strategic Directions and incorporates into daily practice the Core Competencies and Values of the organization.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Graduate of an accredited University Program in Occupational Therapy.
  • Eligible for membership in the Canadian Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Eligible for registration to practice Occupational Therapy in Nova Scotia.
  • Minimum three years Occupational Therapy experience with clients in an Addiction & Mental Health setting.
  • Experience in the development of collaborative partnerships and initiatives with other agencies and community stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a community-based setting.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of community-based population health approach.
  • Knowledge of appropriate assessment tools for clients in a Child & Adolescent setting preferred.
  • Ability to provide effective Addiction & Mental Health/Occupational Therapy assessment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to pursue continuing education to maintain or enhance professional knowledge.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness and organizational health.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with patients/residents, families, other health care providers and staff, demonstrating sensitivity, empathy and warmth.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative.
  • Physical and mental capabilities to perform the duties of the position, such as working flexible hours; dealing with stressful situations; working alone in a satellite office; and travelling/working at other areas as required.
  • Regular attendance in current and previous employment.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License and access to a reliable transportation as travel to various sites may be required.

Compensation and Incentives

$35.86 - $45.29 Hourly
