About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Adult Out-Patient - Mental Health & Addiction Services, the Assistant Manager, Mental Health and Addictions, is a member of the Mental Health and Addictions (MHA) leadership team and is responsible for advancing priorities of the portfolio via supporting the ongoing development and implementation of assigned MHA program services and initiatives. Is responsible for day to day operations, ensuring the effective, efficient use of human, fiscal and material resources in the delivery of quality family centered care. The Assistant Manager works together with other members of the MHA leadership team to implement multiple MHA projects/initiatives to support advancement of patient centered, community-based mental health and addiction care programs and services within the Zone of Nova Scotia Health.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in health or a related field.
  • Eligible for registration with relevant health or professional discipline/college or association
  • 3-5 years recent and related progressive leadership experience. Experience in Mental Health and Addictions an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of mental health/addictions care delivery systems in hospital and community settings.
  • Strong project management, community development, and community engagement skills.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships and partnerships with stakeholders and clients
  • Strong understanding of principles and theory of health promotion, determinants of health, healthy public policy, population mental health and harm reduction.
  • Demonstrated experience in formulating, developing, proposing and implementing provincial-level or national-level population and public health policy related to on mental health
  • Demonstrated experience in (and comfort with) speaking to and engaging with stakeholder groups, and in public forums and other large group settings to describe and explain MHA policy.
  • Previous media/ professional social media experience an asset.
  • Competencies in French is an asset.

Hours

  • Permanent Full Time position; 75 Hours Biweekly
  • Travel may be required- must have access to reliable transportation

Compensation and Incentives

$40.15- $53.35 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. (Permanent Long Assignments Only)
