About the Opportunity

Reporting to the IM/IT Manager & Team Lead of Enterprise Imaging, with considerable latitude for initiative and independent action, the Diagnostic Imaging Information System (DIIS) Technologist has responsibility for the effective operation of the Radiology Information System(s), the Picture Archiving & Communication System (PACS) as well as numerous DIIS supported applications such as PowerScribe dictation software.

The DIIS Technologist, is responsible for the maintenance of the a number of supported software systems within the areas of Diagnostic Imaging and Cardiology. The DIIS technologist is also responsible for the implementation and maintenance of new DIIS software products, in accordance with established standards, including user education for the effective use of each product.

The DIIS technologist collaborates with their fellow IMIT Team members and key clinical and business stakeholders, in partnership with the province's Internal Services Department, to meet deadlines for upgrades to or implementations of software products. The DIIS technologist also interacts with other hospital departments that have a need to interface to DIIS supported software.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Degree or diploma from a diagnostic imaging discipline required
  • Registration with the Nova Scotia Medical Radiation Technologists and the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists required *Applicants who are eligible and willing to obtain their NSCMIRTP registration will be considered.
  • 2 years' experience as a diagnostic imaging technologist required
  • Previous experience/training in IT considered a strong asset
  • Digital Imaging course and WHIMIS preferred
  • Previous experience with medical imaging information and departmental workflow
  • Medical imaging terminology knowledge a strong asset
  • Familiarity with medical equipment, particularly medical imaging equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve issues that are both frequent and infrequent in nature
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Previous experience training staff members on new or current practices or equipment
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team
  • High degree of computer efficiency
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred

  • Permanent, Full-time Position; 75 Hours Biweekly

Compensation and Benefits

$33.47 - $41.83 Hourly
