About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of Physician Support, the Physician Onboarding Consultant, will play a critical role in ensuring seamless integration and successful onboarding of all new physicians (family medicine and other specialists) into Nova Scotia Health. The role works closely with various internal and external partners to develop and implement effective onboarding processes, provide support to new hires, and facilitate smooth transitions into practice. The position requires a combination of organizational skills, interpersonal abilities, and a deep understanding of healthcare operations. The onboarding program begins at offer acceptance through the first year of practice. It works to introduce the new physician to practice and community and helps them establish their practice.

The role will be the main contact for new physicians to transition to practice and will include navigation for but not limited to payment modalities, billing process, space and equipment retrieval, EMR training and support, clinical practice specific needs, welcome and introduction to NSH community, any outstanding items from recruitment process (licensing, credentialing, immigration, DNS registration, CMPA coverage) regular communication and check ins for the first year. The Consultant is also responsible for coordinating, monitoring, supporting and evaluating the onboarding experience from a zone based operational perspective through an initial one-year program cycle and making recommendations for long-term administration. The Onboarding Consultant works with a range of internal departments and external community partners to coordinate and support physician onboarding. These include primary care and all specialty departments, physician recruitment, credentialing and privileging, Zone Medical Executive Office, liaising regularly with the new Physicians, and engaging with external stakeholders such as the NS College of Physicians and Surgeons, Doctors Nova Scotia and Department of Health and Wellness and communities as needed.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Undergraduate degree in a business, education, leadership or human resources related field, or Registered Health Care Professional
    *Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • 3-5 years' experience working in business administration, organizational learning and development, leadership development, or human resources
  • Experience developing and implementing new programs and initiatives
  • Knowledge and experience with adult learning theory
  • Experience in a health care environment preferred
  • Experience with e-learning technology preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others to achieve results
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally across disciplines and with a variety of people
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong strategic thinking skills
  • Proactive, resourceful, and flexible
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with others
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent, Full-Time position, 75 hrs bi-weekly

Compensation and Benefits

$37.61 - $47.01 Hourly
