About the Opportunity

The Clinical Dietitian, as a Medical Nutrition Specialist, is the member of the interdisciplinary health professional team who directs and is responsible for the nutrition care and education of patients. The Clinical Dietitian initiates a cost-effective medical nutrition therapy care process comprised of patient assessment, the development of patient-centered, goal-focused care plan, implementation and evaluation of the plan, and ongoing monitoring nutrition care plans are outcome-focused, incorporate evidence-based practice, are formulated to optimize both clinical and fiscal outcomes, and emphasize health promotion and disease prevention. In the ambulatory setting, the Clinical Dietitian provides patients with effective, evidence-based strategies to self-manage disease, which decreases hospital admission rates. By assuring the optimal nutrition status of patients who require hospitalization, the Clinical Dietitian enhances medical management by facilitating improved clinical outcomes such as decreased infection rates, decreased length of stay, and reduced readmission rates.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • B.Sc. Major in Nutrition/Dietetics required
  • Completion of an approved Dietetic internship required
  • Licensed with Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists required
  • Eligible for membership with the Dietitians of Canada
  • Demonstrated accountability
  • Demonstrated judgment and decision making skills
  • Strong client focus and ability to build solid client/practitioner relationships
  • Demonstrated communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Demonstrated planning, organization and time management skills
  • Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practices and organizational health
  • Physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position
  • Travelling to other sites may be required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
