About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Director, the Health Services Manager is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership to multi-disciplinary teams within a patient-centred, Collaborative Practice Model for patient care units. Working collaboratively and consultatively with patients/clients, families, management, staff, physicians, community partners, and service providers, the Manager applies strategic and analytical thinking to address challenges to achieve the ultimate goal of high quality, safe, and cost effective services to better support patient experience/outcome.


The Health Services Manager exhibits sound professional judgment and initiative while working within the framework and objectives of the Health Services Program and the Mission and Vision and Strategic Directions of Nova Scotia Health, and incorporates into daily practice the Core Competencies and Values of Nova Scotia Health.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a health related discipline
  • Current registration with applicable college related to health degree
  • Minimum 5 years recent clinical experience in a position included in this portfolio
  • Minimum 5 years recent experience in a leadership and/or management position with responsibilities related to program planning, evaluation, human resource and financial management within a unionized environment
  • Experience developing and facilitating strategies consistent with the principles of Organizational Health
  • Demonstrated proficiency in program planning, financial and human resource management, oral and written communication and interpersonal effectiveness
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, analytical, problem solving, conflict resolution, negotiation, strategic thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to successfully change, adapt, overcome, and cope with unexpected challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strategic partnerships and collaborative working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners across the healthcare continuum
  • Demonstrated commitment to employee and self-development and continuous quality improvement
  • Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, internet, email, and the ability to utilize health information systems for decision support
  • Demonstrated regular attendance in current and previous employment
  • Physical and mental capabilities to perform the duties of the position such as managing multiple priorities, time-sensitive deadlines, stressful situations, working flexible/extended hours and travelling within and outside NSH as necessary
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

  • Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours biweekly

Compensation and Benefits

$45.45 - $60.39 Hourly
