JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Chief Privacy Officer, you will use your specialized knowledge to support the expansion of SE Health's Privacy Office and work as a part of a dedicated team to lead the development of the privacy program for some of the most exciting and transformative health initiatives across the country.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Privacy Management

  • Support ongoing review of existing privacy programs and establish ideal future state in consultation with internal leaders and external consultant(s)

  • Address gaps in compliance with legislation, regulations and best practice, and support leadership for future direction

  • Conduct research and provide analysis on privacy-related issues, as required

  • Supervision of Privacy Engineer and support for ongoing technology projects with an aim to integrate operational concepts

Operational Privacy Management

  • Facilitate and support ongoing staff training

  • Respond to internal inquiries and provide guidance

  • Routine support for incident investigation and continuous improvement of privacy practices

  • Coordinate and conduct privacy breach investigations and identify the appropriate mitigating strategies and enterprise level recommendations

  • Support access to information requests and corrections, consent, and complaint management

  • Conduct privacy impact assessments on new systems, programs, and complex initiatives

Monitoring and Compliance

  • Update relevant policies and procedures in accordance with relevant privacy legislation, agreement(s), obligations, and privacy best practices

  • Advise on risk mitigation activities

  • Lead and participate in project teams as the privacy subject matter expert, providing advice on the design of new initiatives in accordance with privacy policies and procedures, relevant privacy legislation, contractual obligations, and privacy best practices

  • Establish audit practices across the organization and conduct regular audits to verify adherence to privacy policies and procedures.

  • Support development of privacy-related metrics

  • Assess, document, monitor, and communicate privacy-related risks to senior leadership including annual reporting obligations / Board reporting

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Law, Information Technology, or a related field

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in privacy management, preferably in a healthcare setting

  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian privacy laws and regulations, particularly PHIPA and PIPEDA

  • Strong understanding of healthcare operations and information systems.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated leadership and project management abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

· Master's degree in a relevant field

  • Proven record of successfully implementing privacy programs or initiatives within an organization
  • Professional certifications such as CIPP/C (Certified Information Privacy Professional/Canada) CIPM (Certified Information Privacy Manager)

This role is a hybrid and may require travel to our Markham or Toronto office as needed
