Ontario Health at Home is looking for an accounting professional to provide their expertise and support for our Family Managed Home Care (FMHC) program. The Specialist Accounting, Family Managed Home Care ensures the timely preparation, review, and processing of accounts payable transactions in accordance with GAAP standards, as well as playing a key role in monthly audits, the service reconciliation process and ensuring accurate reporting of FHMC services. The position effectively communicates with patients, internal and external partners to provide information regarding FMHA processes and procedures.

What will you do?

  • Prepare/review all aspects of Family Managed Home Care (FMHC) Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes and verify completion
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and prepayments
  • Prepare monthly import files from CHRIS (Client and Health Related Information System)
  • Prepare monthly FMHC accruals
  • Maintain FMHC excel tool bringing in General Ledger details and maintaining accounts totals and monitoring account balances
  • Collaborate with Procurement department to audit patient files on a regular basis and follows up with patients/substitute decision makers (SDMs) to rectify any issues
  • Review/verify documents for payment of FMHC eligible expenses
  • Support preparation of other FMHC documents and reports as required.
  • Communicate with FMHC SDMs/patients regarding finance processes and provides appropriate documents when on boarding
  • Operate closely with the provincial FMHC Teams to ensure FMHC families are successful and accountable to the FMHC Program Specifications
  • Maintain a monthly audit of submissions per contract agreement.
  • Provide support in the analysis and reconciliation of FMHC accounts as required
  • Prepare/reconcile accounts receivable related to FMHC account closing and forwards invoices to the SDMs/patients upon account reconciliation.
  • Maintain FMHC filing system and record retention, ensuring files are properly maintained and information is easily accessible.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient files while communicating through various methods, including email

What must you have?

  • Minimum two-year Community College diploma in Accounting
  • Current designation or enrolment in a certified accounting program preferred
  • Minimum 4-5 years’ recent experience in an accounting environment
  • Experience with an online invoice processing system is an asset
  • Knowledge of basic GAAP principles
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Understanding of Financial Systems (Great Plains experience an asset)
  • Experience with CHRIS (Client and Health Related Information System) an asset
  • Accuracy and strong attention to detail to process large volumes of data
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex finance information to clients/substitute decision makers (SDM’s)
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to tactfully mange concerns and complaints
  • Strong organizational skills, working with frequent interruptions, multiple demands and tight deadlines
  • Self-directed, able to work independently and in a team setting
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with external and internal contacts
  • Strong problem solving skills with keen insight to suggest changes to current practices and procedures
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and exercise diplomacy and discretion

$67,765 to $ $80,915
