Job Description:

The Sales Finance Manager serves as a trusted leader for Pet Nutrition Canada and provides financial support and leadership as the business partner for the Sales organization, CFO and VP of Sales. This role is primarily responsible for the financial performance of Trade spend however is expected to drive and influence the overall delivery of Net Sales while leading the financial governance and period close processes. This position will also be responsible to bring the sales finance insights to the business by connecting the opportunities and risks through Steps 2 (DMR) and 4 (IR) of the signature S&OP+ process. As a crucial expert on sales finance, this position will also input into the value creation agenda of the iVCP for the Pet Nutrition Canada Business.

What are we looking for?

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • MBA or CPA a plus.
  • 5+ years relevant professional experience preferably within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG).
  • Experienced in using SAP, Microsoft Excel and PowerBI.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with management and associates at all levels.
  • Must have a high degree of self-direction with the ability to constantly seek innovative ways to perform tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Detailed-oriented but can see the bigger picture.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Business Partner with the Sales VP, Broader Sales team and SRM Lead.
  • Represent Finance at the S&OP+ Step 2 and Step 4 meetings by playing a leading role, and driving insights and analysis.
  • Partner with Sales to develop Customer and Channel strategies. Transform these strategies into integrated Value Creation plans. Identify levers and priority initiatives to deliver Value Creation goals.
  • In collaboration with Sales Revenue Management (SRM) and Sales teams develop annual Channel and Customer financial plans and key activities to execute these plans.
  • Provide insights into financial performance, proactively identify and analyze business issues and opportunities and drive actions to meet financial commitments. Communicate risks and opportunities against delivery of plan and propose corrective actions. Bring perspective by analyzing trends, performance indicators and connect Customer/Channel performance with overall business performance.
  • Lead the Quarterly Trade reviews to evaluate risks and opportunities, drive trade-off decisions and ensure Channel Trade Strategy supports overall business objectives.
  • Proactively analyze and manage Customer P&L with close attention to MAC to deliver optimal sales and profit. Champion ROI/MAC mindset across all account teams. This Includes developing best practices, training, and application of tools.
  • Actively participate in trade-off conversations and ensure robust financial evaluation of all major decisions, including Trade, Shopper, Display & Equipment, Customization.
  • Deliver timely, accurate and robust Period End process and reporting relating to NSV and Trade.
  • Drive digital agenda, Improvement of analytical tools and simplification of processes.
  • Support ad-hoc requests and projects.
  • Ensure strong financial controls are embedded across Sales operations.
