Positively engage with children ages two to twelve to instruct and/or participate in a variety of age-appropriate programming:
Sports including but not limited to: Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, Pickleball, Flag Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Cricket etc.
Creative and General Interest programming including visual arts, performing arts, STEM, sensory play, social activities & games, etc.
Promote the healthy development of children and youth.
Follow safety supervision basics and ensure safety of program to participants.
Practice a preventative approach to safety and in the event deal with accidents and incidents as required including completing proper documentation.
Ensure accurate, timely and complete submission of all forms and records including but not limited to child behavior reports, sign in/out documentations and participant information.
Report any deficiencies to Recreation Programmer immediately.
Maintain an environment that is safe, clean and in good repair and a neat and tidy workspace at all times.
Greet participants entering the facility for programming.
Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues as well as parents/guardians about a child's experience. This includes oral and written communication is necessary.
Carry out light cleaning duties as assigned by the supervisor or designate.
Maintain a professional image at all times, as a representative of the City of Cambridge, and be in uniform at all times.
Minimum two months' experience working with children or youth.
An interest or discipline in the activity through volunteering or participation is an asset.
Please note that applicants must be at least 15 years of age.
The hourly rate for this position is $17.20 per hour.
Hours are dependent on the number of participants taking part in our programs; as such, there are no minimum hours associated with this position.
