The Unit Manager is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents through the strong leadership and motivation of Sienna team members.
As a Unit Manager your typical day will impact in the following ways:
• Participating in the recruitment, orientation and performance management process in accordance with company standards for all team members in the nursing department.
• Providing leadership, education, direction and coordination to team members to ensure assessments, and documentation is completed by team members in accordance with MOHLTC, college of Nurses, and company standards.
• Monitoring and evaluating team members, providing leadership and coaching, evaluating performance, providing input during performance appraisal.
• Participating in the identification, analysis and interpretation of trends in resident care outcomes and professional nursing practice issues in order to determine priorities for educational programming.
• Ensuring ongoing communication with families to inform them of changes in health status, changes in policy.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
• Holds a current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Diploma as a Practical Nurse from a recognized Accredited Educational Institution.
• A minimum of two years' experience in Long Term Care industry or equivalent.
• Clinical knowledge and skill in Gerontological Nursing.
• Proficiency with the classification process and the funding indicators and knowledge of MOHLTC regulations and standards.
• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.
